What is Knowledge Management KM World?

Insights from a Customer Care (SOCAP) and Knowledge Management (KMWorld) Conference  January 20, 2016 – 06:00 am
KM looks dramatically

I spent this week traveling to San Diego where I spoke at the SOCAP conference and D.C where I spoke at KMWorld (the week before that I was at CMMA for media professionals in Florida). SOCAP is primarily focused on customer care, customer insight, and customer service professionals (including call centers) whereas KMWorld is primarily focused on knowledge managers and collaboration practitioners. I learned a few interesting things from the dozens of conversations I had at both of these events.

From SOCAP

  • Customer care professionals are not very aware of enterprise collaboration or what it even entails, let alone how emoloyee collaboration can impact the customer in a positive way. I was actually one of the first people to talk about employee collaboration at a SOCAP conference!
  • Contact centers desperately need a knowledge repository or knowledge management solution for customer service representatives who are answering the same questions over and over. However, many of these contact centers don’t connect the dots between managing information and allowing reps to collaborate internally to solve customer problems. They see this primarily as an information problem not as a collaboration problem; a huge disconnect!
  • Very few contact centers are starting to explore collaboration solutions internally and I suspect these few will be leaders in their industry.

You can do just about Anything

There are SO many career opportunities once you have your nursing degree.
You can go into Pharmaceutical sales or clinical development, drug safety, clinical information management- this is all only in Pharma, you can check out jobs at biospace.com to see the full range.
Otherwise, you can go into legal nurse consulting (requires experience as a nurse) the insurance industry, cruise...e in this country start to deteriorate more rapidly over the next decade, you will have the knowledge to be able to "defend" your own family if they are ever ill-
God knows I would not leave my families bedside in a hosptial these days without my overseeing the nursing care- NOt that I don't trust or respect nurses, but the atmosphere we practice in promotes the chance for serious errors.

The reason why they get away with it is that

And you aren't.
You have to realize that you don't have all the answers nor all the knowledge here. The true immature one is the OP because you have to learn to choose your battles and it seems that this one happens over and over again.
We don't know a lot of the story here - what if the OP actually sabotaged something or even harmlessly forgot to do something on time? It's not managements fault there now is it?
You need to do some soul searching and really think - is it you or is it them? Usually it's both but it's usually more you than them because they stay and you go.
