SHANGHAI, July 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ — Milliken & Company has won judgment in a patent infringement lawsuit involving Zhejiang 8Telecom Co., Ltd./ Hangzhou Lefa Network Technologies Co., Ltd.

The Beijing High Court of the People’s Republic of China recently issued judgment whereby Hangzhou Lefa Network Technologies Co., Ltd., formerly a wholly owned subsidiary of Zhejiang 8Telecom Co., Ltd., manufactured and sold innerduct made of fabric that infringed upon the patent to which Milliken has exclusive right in China. In the ruling, the High Court upheld earlier rulings that forbade the infringer from manufacturing, offering to sell, or selling infringing products, and ordered the infringer to pay damages to Milliken.

Milliken is committed to protecting its intellectual property in China, as in all parts of the world where it operates. “Our fabric innerduct technology is transforming the way China is meeting growing demands for communications data, ” stated John Hepfinger, Global Market Manager at Milliken & Company. “This ruling helps ensure that Milliken can continue to bring unique and innovative infrastructure solutions to market, by providing confidence and security that our interests, as well as those of our partners and customers, will be protected.”

There is No such thing as "Copyrighting" A Work

In the U.S., creative works are "copyrighted" as of the moment of creation. There is no such thing as copyrighting a work that already exists.
People tend to equate the terms "marking" and "registering" with copyrighting. On that point, both the above are good ideas, and they help in any pertinent ligitation. But, registering a copyright is nothing like prosecuting a patent application, an... your song is a copy of another (which is commonplace), you will have to argue that in litigation. No doubt that is expensive.
I believe that the U.S. copyright office has some helpful materials on how to proceed with this. It should not be difficult at all. If need be, you can contact a lawyer to help. But, it is totally unlike patent work as there is not that much for the attorney to do.
