My firm practices corporate and business law with a particular emphasis on advising high tech and bio tech start ups on pre-IPO matters; particularly state and local tax planning, compliance and tax controversies. Anybody know something about human resources

I work at an insurance company. There are a few accounts that have an limited plan where people are allowed a certain amount of therapy sessions and they do not have to pay a copay. This is their EAP benefit (employee assistance program). This benefit was historically started on site at companies for people having personal issues that may be affecting their work.
However, now some insuran...ing that type of evaluation. Before, I got a chance to call the HR person, they called and chewed me out. I offered to try to find someone else. Yes, I did make a mistake but she was acting like it was my fault that she was still on paid leave. The woman had a therapist and the HR person did not want this person to be the one to evaluate her. I think the HR woman is over- stepping. any opinions?

At what point do you admit defeat?

We have a beautiful, human loving, curl up on your lap and snuggle because he thinks he fits well 100lb dobe in foster right now. He has been with us and this particular foster family for 10 months. His only fault? He is DA and has SA. He is recieving one on one training sessions with the trainer, as well as being worked with by his foster 'dad' on a daily basis, but from the evaluation we just ...y chance, and the only reason he is still recieving those chances is because he has yet to draw blood on a bite.
Anyone? Oh, and yes we tried a breed specific rescue thinking they would be better equipped to handle him, and was told due to his aggression he would be evaluated and put down. We thought he stood a better chance to get 'fixed' here with us...but our resources are about tapped.

From a hiring manager...

It sounds like you've just started working there, correct (3-6 mo)? It is very common to have an evaluation immediately following the probation period, but it is very unlikely that this evaluation is tied into a raise. You've just started working there, there is NO justification for a raise. Unless, of course, you've redesigned their processes or implemented something very revolutionary that the...ail or a memo to the ED and ask that you be considered for a raise given your increased responsibilities and your accomplishments. You do not suggest an amount, the ED will decide on that.
BUt remember, the fact that you're doing your job well does not entitle you to a raise. It's expected of you that you'll be a good employee. You must go the extra mile to get recognized.
Good luck!
