Lady Gaga’s Perfume Sold 30 Million Times  August 28, 2014 – 01:10 pm
COLLECTION ONLY!

Nearly every pop diva and actress has her own perfume. Celebrities like Britney Spears or Jennifer Lopez, have multiple scents in their portfolios, since they started releasing perfumes in the early ’00s, just as VIP scents were coming into vogue. Lady Gaga launched her first fragrance, Fame, in August/September, and she has already sold over 30 million bottles of it worldwide. The perfume did so well since there was nothing else on the market like it.

Lady Gaga tweets about FAME being sold 30 million times

Wow! FAME the fragrance had officially sold 30 million bottles and is the 8th most successful brand for the year! Thank you fashionistas!

— Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) February 9, 2013

According to promotional materials, the perfume uses “push-pull technology”, rather than the pyramidal structure traditional of perfumes, to combine notes of Atropa Belladonna, Tiger Orchid, Incense, Apricot, Saffron and Honey.

FAME was named the top-selling celebrity fragrance of 2012 in the UK.

On August 14, 2012, Gaga released a 30-second trailer of the Lady Gaga Fame commercial which uses her song Scheiße as background music. On August 23, 2012, a day after the official launch of the fragrance at Macy’s, Lady Gaga aired a second follow-up commercial.

Cyber warfare has begun in earnest

A new software “worm” called Stuxnet (its name is derived from keywords buried in the code) seems to have been developed to attack a specific nuclear facility in Iran. Its sophistication suggests that it is the work of a well-financed team working for a government, rather than a group of rogue hackers trying to steal secrets or cause trouble. America and Israel are the obvious suspects. But Stux...It launches an attack only when it finds a match. “The bad news is that the virus is targeting a specific process or plant,” says Wieland Simon of Siemens. “The good news is that most industrial processes are not the target of the virus.” (Siemens says it knows of 15 plants around the world that were infected by Stuxnet, but their operations were unaffected as they were not the intended target.)

American Jobs Creation Act has corp. tax breaks

US multinationals awarded huge tax break on foreign earnings
Under the guise of a provision to create jobs, the US Congress passed a revision to the tax code allowing an 85 percent reduction in taxes on foreign earnings of many of the country’s largest corporations. The reduction applies to profits made and held by overseas subsidiaries. Instead of requiring the companies to pay the standa...ns to consolidate the two companies at a cost of 5,000 jobs.
Ostensibly, the tax break is required to compensate US exporters for the loss of a government subsidy that helped offset tariffs imposed by other countries. The World Trade Organization ruled the subsidy a violation of fair trade. The European Union (EU) recently imposed sanctions, which were due to increase in successive months.

Breaking news Obama “worse than Bush”

Thomas Drake, the whistle-blower whom the Obama administration tried and failed to prosecute for leaking information about waste, fraud and abuse at the National Security Agency, now works at an Apple store in Maryland. In an interview with Salon, Drake laughed about the time he confronted Attorney General Eric Holder at his store while Holder perused the gadgetry on display with his security de...quirements of a federal acquisition regulation that governed the proposed system at a sliver of the cost, all while protecting American civil liberties at the code level. The NSA leadership, however, had already bet their careers on Trailblazer. So Drake blew the whistle, first to Congress, then to the Department of Defense Inspector General’s Office, and finally, and fatefully, to Gorman.

Er... theres more xcons at diebold than i knew

"SAN FRANCISCO -- At least five convicted felons secured management positions at a manufacturer of electronic voting machines, according to critics demanding more stringent background checks for people responsible for voting machine software.
Voter advocate Bev Harris alleged Tuesday that managers of a subsidiary of Diebold, one of the country's largest voting equipment vendors, included a...ion.
"We can't speak for the hiring process of a company before we acquired it," Jacobsen said. He would not provide further details, saying company policy bars discussion of current or past employees.
The former GES is Diebold's wholly owned subsidiary, Global Election Management Systems, which produces the operating system that touch-screen voting terminals use." more on link

Yes, theft, coercion, acquisition and plagiarism

The fact is Microsoft's growth has been mainly through acquisition and sometimes downright plagiarism. The history of Microsoft's innovations are a history of purchases, starting with MSDOS, copycating, such as making extensive use of Apple's Macintosh code to develope Windows 1.0, and thefts, such as Stacker's file compression utility (for which Stacker sued Microsoft and won a judgement in excess of $100 million).
(After all this, I believe Stacker after all agreed to be used in Windows and then engulfed by microsoft)
