Acquisitive software company Advanced Computer Software (LON:ASW) is to raise up to £44mln through a placing of shares at 80p per share.

Investors were keen to get hold of the newly issued shares, and the placing was oversubscribed, which may account for the 6.4p rise in the share price to 88.4p this morning.
Advanced Computer’s shares have risen by almost two-thirds over the last year and are up around 25% in the last month alone.
Of the £44 million to be raised, up to £28.5 million has been placed conditionally using existing shareholder permissions, but the balance, which has also been conditionally placed, will need to be rubber-stamped at a general meeting of the company.
Assuming shareholders vote in favour of the full issue, the new shares will represent 13.2% of the enlarged share capital of the company.
The company has set itself ambitious growth targets and has made no bones that organic growth will be augmented by acquisitions, and the funds raised will top up the company’s war chest.
