What is Copyright Trademark and patent?

craft copyrights You’ve put hard work and creativity into your arts and crafts, why should someone else profit from it? There are ways to protect your work, business logo, or even invention. You can do this by patenting, filing a trademark for, or copyrighting your work.

Craft Copyrights

If you create written or musical works, they are protected by copyright automatically upon creation. Craft designs can also be protected by a craft copyright.

Many people believe that you have to file a copyright for your creation in order for it to be copyrighted material. Filing for federal copyright protection of your work is not a bad idea, and it is required should you need to take legal action against someone that is copying your work.

Filing is done through the U.S. Copyright Office and costs about $30. Be advised that they may take up to four or five months after applying to receive your certificate from them.
